Lizzy Harris is a 22-year-old writer and artist based in San Francisco, currently pursuing a BA in Creative Writing at San Francisco State University.
With four years of professional writing experience and eight years immersed in the visual arts, her work blends language and imagery to explore personal and imaginative narratives. She has three publications to date: Soothing the Soul, a creative non fiction essay, along with two poems, “harbouring monstrosity” and “i would let the bear lay with me.” Lizzy is proficient in a range of creative and technical skills including fine art, digital media, poetry, fiction, nonfiction, and more. Passionate about storytelling in all its forms, Lizzy continues to develop a multidisciplinary practice rooted in curiosity, precision, and creative exploration with a special focus on the environment, systemic inequalities, and the impact of childhood trauma.
Born in Brunswick, Maine, Lizzy’s story begins with movement—a life shaped by tides, relocation, and reinvention. Shortly after her birth, her family relocated to Norfolk, Virginia, and soon after to the island of Guam, where she lived on Andersen Air Force Base with her parents and older sister. It was there, under the humid skies and ocean winds, that her family shifted course: her parents separated, and she moved with her mother and sister to Pensacola, Florida, where they lived under the care of her great-grandmother, Nana.
By age six, Lizzy’s now single mother, decided California would offer her daughters a better future. With hearts full of hope and a lemonade stand set up by the curb, Lizzy and her sister raised funds for their cross-country move. They packed their lives into a single car, alongside their beloved chocolate lab, Godiva, and began the long journey west.
Their first California home stood in San Francisco’s Sunset District, nestled near the misty edge of the Great Highway. After her mother’s remarriage, the family eventually settled in Sonoma County, where they would remain for over a decade.
Now, Lizzy has returned to San Francisco’s Sunset District, sharing a home with her sister while completing her B.A., set to be awarded in December 2025. Her artistic practice spans writing, visual storytelling, and photography—often inspired by coastal light, memory, and the quiet magic of the everyday.
She finds peace in nature and connection through animals, sharing her life with three spirited rabbits—Jupi, Kale, and Elton—and a chameleon named Sheogorath. When not working on her creative projects, Lizzy can be found journaling with a cup of coffee in hand, playing indie games, or crafting tactile beauty through crochet and sewing.
